Beginners Drum Kit
Discussion
My Daughter is harbouring ambitions to be a drummer. I have no idea about the type of quality of Kit she should go after. One solution is obviously the Roland HT-1 and it's bigger siblings and I have been looking at these electronic kits. What would be a good starter acoustic though??
Probably any of the entry level kits by the big manufacturers such as Premier/pearl if she intends to make a career out of it. Avoid cheap cymbals though. I've found the difference in quality between cheap and more pricey cymbals is vast. It's not so apparent with drums though, and a cheap kit can still sound and look great, the only thing that may let it down though is the quality of the stands/hardware.
If money is no object, go for some V-drums with mesh heads. They are quieter, take up less room, easier to transport and more versatile.

Most beginner kits are of the same quality so you can't go wrong there. You'll get everything you need to start.
I wouldn't go for an electric kit for a beginner as it may make it more "gimmicky" and this may put her off.
If you're not bothered about a new kit have a look on ebay for a slightly used beginner kit. Could save you a couple of quid and if it doesn't work out you'll not lose any money.
