Everything is influenced by everything else before it - think they made enough changes to call their work their own.

The world would be a poorer place without the first 2 albums for sure.

Live on Jonathon Ross tonight. There are some good tracks on the new album...not that I'm a music critic or anything! I hope Liam's voice isn't too far gone to nail the live stuff.

edit - or maybe not on JR? Seems it's now Bishi instead confused

Have got it playing at the moment - got to say first impressions are good!

They seem to have put a lot of effort into it, some catchy tunes with the familar Oasis Riff's. I can't wait to see them live again.

As an aside I saw Oasis last night having last seen them in 94ish I think... Not good, completely lost it! I got bored about half way through, popped out for a drink and didnt bother going back. The odd new song sounded pedestrian to say the least, I was really disappointed!

Role on the Kaisers on Thursday! Hurrah!

not being funny, but were you in the same arena as the other few thousand??

they rocked. bar liam's mike going half way through champagne supernova and noels also going during falling down it was absolutely spot on. ive seen them three times now, nia this time plus maine road and knebworth on there and then tour. not lost it at all.

also at the end of the gig was talking to a bloke from nme who reckoned that was the best gig he had been too in the past 5 years.

I think the key to your statement is last 5 years, compared to the Oasis of 10-15 odd years ago they were ste! And that was the last time I saw them. Certainly won't be rushing back! I dread to think what gigs the NME hack had been to if that was the best!!! I've seen better this month!

And... I wasnt alone in the pub!!!!

It says it all that you prefer the Handkerchiefs to Oasis. The band's sound has moved on from the brash quickness of DM. Listen to the last 2 albums and you'll find their sound is polished and clever. They have a good line up now aswell which is helping them pump out good tunes. Listen to the shock of lightning and tell me thats not as good as anything they have made in the last 15 years.

Couple of points!:

1. Did I say the Kaisers were better?? No, I didn't - I said I was lookig forward to seeing them - which I am! For the record I think they are pretty average but good music to jump around to and there's a group of 10 of us going so it will be a laugh!

2. This line up is not a patch on the classic line up and Shock of the lighting as good as live forever, shakermaker, wonderwall, don't look back etc etc. You are really are having a laugh if you think that. Technically the line up may be better now but it just isnt relevant. When they formed they were.

3. Energy - I remember seeing oasis at T in thpark in 93 when they literally hit the stage and blew everyone away. Didnt see that at all, just saw 2 blokes with a backing band plodding through the songs...

4. People hold different views! If people thought it was great then thats great! I didn't, but I remember the band pre the launch of definetly maybe when they were a truly great band!

Firstly a ! mark does make your point more prominent.

1. Fair enough. It's the way it came across.

2. That is maybe memory clouding your judgment. Shock of Lightning is a fantastic tune and I think will go down as a classic. There is no point comparing it to older classics such as live forever or Wonderwall (Shakermaker?). People will have memories (good or bad) of these tunes and so will always be the better in that respect than any new tunes. They are nostaligic.

3. Energy? They have never been an enegric band. Its always been Liam having the presence on stage to hold your attention for a 2 hour set. The last time i went to see them - it was my gf's first time and she wasn't really looking forward it, but once Liam came on stage she was hooked. He draws you in. Like I say they have never been a band to jump around on stage to get your attention.

4. Good for you. I've been a fan since DM as have most people but I have not always liked their tunes or albums (SOTSOG is their lowest point). IMO they have got better over the years and the last 2 albums are proof.
