I know this forum is essentially about musical tastes but I was just wondering, how many PHers actually play, sing or otherwise perform in front of paying audiences?

I sang in a choir, my voice is getting lower, I used to be a tenor but now a baritone.

My Dad has a band that plays for parties or charity, they plays proper Rock! He is the drummer, my Brother has made an appearance as a guitarist and a backing singer, I've been a backing singer for them too. Uncle, Dad's Brother, is a professional musician and plays with our band. Dad's partner in the practice, sings and is a very good guitarist, he loves singing but not playing Tequila Sunrise, we met him at the Eagles concert and told my Brother to watch them carefully so he wouldn't have to play it any more.

The reason why I was asking is because I am in a musical/operatic society which performs two major shows each year.

Our next show is "Annie Get Your Gun" and hits the boards on Monday 22 September.

You can see what we get up to at www.cfaos.co.uk

I do a fair bit of playing at the moment with my saxophone. Mostly with my main band - a 9 piece Northern Soul/60s Mod Jazz/Hammond Organ type band (hard to describe!) that's out gigging a most weekends - nightclubs, weddings/functions and bigger outdoor stages every once in a while.

Just starting to get a few more phonecalls for other more pro horn section work - was gigging with the Elvis in Concert theatre tour last night. But that's just starting out, not a lot on that particular (well paid) plate at the minute.

Also playing in various rehearsal Big Bands around the local area, not one in particular, but I get a phonecall a few times a month to go out depping.

I play the drums, so that doesnt qualify me as a musician!!! wink Band I play in plays occasionally, but we write our own stuff and last time out pulled in a couple of hundred or so. Only ever play for fun, no interest in anything else, just having a laugh!!

In 1995 I was half of a two-man dance music writing/production outfit who used to go on stage and hide behind synths while some fit girls sang and danced what we'd written. We didn't sell ticket though, we did PAs in nightclubs to promote whatever single we had out at the time.

Who's dance music? Sounds like my kind of thing.

The single is signed to Armada (Armin Van Buuren's label). I love dance, let spill on which tracks you're behind then!

Nothing serious, but I played in a couple of punk/rock bands at uni and I've since been in an acoustic duo doing open mics around North London.
