Seems that Slayer are visting these parts in November to play a couple of shows. Last time I saw them was.... well quite a long time ago. 1986 on the Reign in Blood tour. It was damn good. I'm thinking of going along, revist my youth smile

Have the past couple of decades been kind to them or are they now a washed out imitation of what once was? Must confess I haven't even heard any stuff post "South of Heaven"...

Ive seen Slayer several times over the past 5 years or so, and I hate to say it but they seem to be declining a little bit each time. The last time I saw them they had to spend ages recovering inbetween songs. They play well though.

I was underwhelmed the last time I saw them live. Admittedly that was eight years ago, but they seemed to be going through the motions a touch - Slayer by numbers.

Thanks. I'm a bit undecided now. Not sure I want to spend travel time & money (not to mention sitting through the dodgy suppport bands) to have my memories trampled upon scratchchin

I have seen them 6 times and up until the last time I saw them at Download 2004, they have never failed to dissappoint, however at Download they seemed to be just going through the motions and their last record 'Christ Illusion' was pretty poor, it just sounded like they were a cliche of themselves IMHO. Having said all of that, Mastadon and especially Amon Amarth are pretty good bands and Slayer may be back on their game so it might be worth a trip....

I saw Slayer at the Leeds Festival in 2006. They were awesome - loud, fast, heavy - just what I was expecting. I'd definitely see them again, based on that performance.

And I *like* Christ Illusion.
