Do their 'songs' annoy anyone else or is it just me? They all sound the same, have the same pattern, and unfortunately all contain the talentless droning of the,um,singer.
But all I hear is radio stations/music channels banging on about how great they are?
F**kers. Why can't they just piss off?

Well I have disagree with you, I really like them (an I'm old enough to know better) thought it was an original sound, I bought the album about a year ago on a whim and really liked it, have suffer a bit over over load in the past 6 months.

Yep, hate them with a vengance. They are up there with my number one hates, Kate Nash & Lilly Allen.

All Scouting For Girls seem to do is repeat the same lines over & over again.

Lyrically they are talentless.

Their songs seem to consist of half talked/sung verses. Bridges that have one sentence repeating themselves 4 times, then onto the chorus, cue lyrics repeated 4 times.

I don't know how they are so popular. Musically they are not good and lyrically abysmal.

Pathetic fking drivel. Also all of their songs are actually exactly the same. Any band that'll have some repeated little phrase going "I do love/ she does heartbreak/ I did love til she broke my heart." needs shooting, twice, by their own parents; presumably they are all orphans because any normal parents would've strangled the smug gits at birth.

Yacht Rock I've heard to it referred as, all I know is it is utter ste incredibly repetitive, all the songs are practically indistinguishable from any other of their other songs!

ste. Yet another tedious indie band who Radio 1 love and NME give full marks to. Scouting for Girls, Keane, Ting Tings, The Feeling etc etc are all rubbish. Only marginally less torturous than Rn'B.

I'd have to argue that the Feeeling, whilst I'm not a fan, are on a much higher level. They are excellent musicians, the songs are genuinely good songwriting and they can ACTUALLY play live !!

TBH they are better than Oasis! Oasis had, what 7 albums? They were all the same, ok maybe not the content of the songs but Noel has a cheek for sgging off Mark Ronson.

Wahey I'm not alone!
That one line in their new song; 'sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, sometimes you make me feel sad'

WTF? Did no one say anything in the studio when they recorded it? Is there a conspiracy in the music industry that certain bands, no matter how st they are, get tons of airplay?

I'm not really fussed either way when their songs come on the radio.

However - whisper it - I actually quite enjoyed watching them (whilst passing) at Glasto.

Saw them at V-festival. They were fecking superb - never seen a band control a crowd so well, especially when compared to The Kooks who tried to get 40,000 people to sit down. The tt.

By the very fact that they are famous, with songs being played everywhere, and people liking their music (me included) makes them "good". Don't confuse you not liking them with them not being "good".

You see, this is a common misconception. Please bear with my poor analogy: Hitler was famous, and his ideas were everywhere. People liked him. But that didn't actually make him any 'good' - he was still chuffing awful and deserved to die. The same basic principle can be applied in this case.

Now, may I present to you....

Your easy guide to writing a S.F.G song!

- Take generic issue (girl not liking you, breaking up, teenage angst/crush, etc)
- Write terrible, meaningless lyrics. Repeat ad-nauseum throughout song.
- 'Compose' simple piano/guitar melody. This only need be done once - it can then be recycled for all future songs.
- Sit back and watch the millions of teenage sheep come flocking
- Money!

Observe:

She's so lovely
She's so lovely
She's so lovely
She's so lovely

She's so lovely
She's so lovely
She's so lovely
She's so lovely

She's Pretty, a fitty
She's got a boyfriend though and that's a pitty
She's flirty so flirty
And that kind of girl that's really dirty.

General formula is now in place and can be applied to new songs:

Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
cause I heard him on the radio

Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
and you're coming back to me I know

Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
Elvis isn't dead
yes I heard him on the radio

Justify how that's music. Yes, I know music's subjective (death metal isn't my thing, but I realise it is music). S.F.G however, is not.

It makes me so sad that this sort of crap is unquestionably consumed by the public, whilst genuinely talented musicians remain unknown.

Still, they'll be gone in 12 months and replaced by another equally generic offering I suppose...
