I've heard a few covers recently that, although completely different in arrangement, are actually quite good.

Here are a few of my favourites from over the years:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=UmLGMWgHIgw Jose Gonzales doing Kylie's "Hand on your Heart". I always thought it was a cheesy pop song, but listening to lyrics it appears not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX2VSaPOQ-o Smashing Pumpkins covering Thin Lizzy's "Dancing in the Moonlight". A much slower and melancholy (surprise surprise) version.

Couldn't find a youtube version, but Philistines' version of Love will Tear us Apart is great.

What's yours? I need some new songs to download off I - Tunes.

The rules are no straight covers, the arrangement has to be different. DO NOT PUT ALL SAINTS UNDER THE BRIDGE!

William Shatner cover version of Pulp's Common People. So incredibly strange and bad that it's almost good.

Snuff, a band that consists of three mods doing thrash metal in a punk style.

This is their cover of Tiffany's "I think we're alone now"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FuH6eGo0e0

Their covers of the kwikfit, Bran Flakes and other adverts are even better biggrin

Not sure about it working in the same way, but it kind of does. Pastel Vespa doing a cover of Kiss's "I was made for loving you" they turned it all Latin American in style, the kind of thing you would have found being played in a 1930's Buenos Aires club.

Nothing on Youtube but click on the play button on here - http://hypem.com/track/438125
