Sampling old / memorable tracks - can't these R'n'B plums do something of their own? It's like the flippin needle is stuck on a record.

But they're making money.

Both of the above statements piss me off.

Glassman....thats so funny

From where I stand, sampling is an artform and when the best do it, you dont know where its from AND the creations are completely different to the original.(I'm not talking about the obvious like James Brown/Isley brothers) It's recylcing although understandly not to everyones taste.
Sure they make money because it's popular, once again remember that Rnb and rap in the US is THE BIGGEST selling music and thus why they are rewarded with the fruits of their labour.

Forbes Richlist 2008 has
50 cent making $150M
Jay-z made $82M
P-Diddy made $35M

(I dont actually listen to any of the above!)
(incidentally after all the fuss with Jay-z at glastonbury he signed a deal for $150M for his world tour)(At the time the biggest amount for
a solo artist touring in 2008)

But i'm sure all the above will read with dismay that you dislike the practice and will stop sampling.

Surely you should save your hatred for the legions of pop wannabe's that continue to do "cover after cover" cant read music or play an instrument??
Personally I think its much more deserved.
