Tell me this - you never see James Hetfield and Hellboy in a room at the same time, do you?

Sorry - but as an ex die-hard 'tallica fan I have to confess I got bored halfway through that frown

You can hear it on the official site in a bit better quality!!! - The Day That Never Comes

Took a couple of listens but I like it. At least it looks like there is some guitar in this album.

Also seems that they have said that they are over here in Feb 09 for an arena tour.

Feels like a very disjointed song to me. First half sounds like it should be a song on the Loads, and doesn't do much for me at all, but the second half is getting back to what they can do. Still doesn't sound right as a whole song to me though, in the way that something like Welcome Home (Sanitarium) does, for example. Just sounds liked they tacked the second half on to metal it up a bit. That's not to say it doesn't sound promising, but then compared to the utter cack that was the album which shall not speak its name, that's not exactly hard.

I'd love them to play their cover of Remember Tomorrow live.

Now that's more like it yes

And it's not that I harken after the old days - it's just that they've not released anything listenable or decent since the 'black' album. I get all their albums on release, and give them a thorough listen in the hope that this is 'the' one ..... but I'm still waiting frown

Having just watched the (sadly limited) Metallica coverage from Reading on BBC, they've obviously still more than got it when it comes to playing, so you have to wonder why they've struggled with writing stuff. The Black Album is what, seventeen years ago now?! That's disturbing.

Horses for courses I guess. Some people will think that everything post-black is brilliant, and not like the earlier stuff as much.

Fingers crossed the new album will be the dogs danglies - but I've been saying that for quite a while now.

And yeah - live they do kick some butt. I've toured with them and seen them many times - although the last time was (I'm embarassed to say) was 'in the round' - at least 10+ years ago.

Indeed.

Sanitarium is still my favourite 'tallica song to this day. Along with the likes of Fade to black and The Unforgiving.

I've got mines ordered on Play, I hope I'm not dissapointed come 12th of September...

To be honest, i don't expect the new one to compare/better to the older stuff - it just cannnot be bettered, as it really was genre definining both for Metal and for the Band.

Ii just hope its a bit more heavier than the last few efforts, then i will be happy to have spent my £10.

I was at leeds over the weekend - the set Metallica did on friday night was the best i've seen.

I've seen them three times before this but the performance i saw on Friday was by far the best.

They played two new songs, and as a unit seemed to be very "tight" they seem to have got something of what they lost circa st anger.

I can't stress how good they were the other night.

Interesting you say tight. That you tube video above has a few moments where i do not get the impression of everything in perfect sync. Might be just the recording though

Not too keen on that new one. Saw the (brief) coverage on BBC last night from Reading - they sounded awesome. New album pre-ordered though.
