ADVANCE BOOKING SCHEME ANNOUNCED

Following this year's triumphant Festival, Michael Eavis has revealed that tickets for next year's Glastonbury will go on sale on October 5th. In another first, people will have the option to either buy their ticket outright, or reserve it by paying a £50 deposit.

Says Michael Eavis: We have come up with a scheme that will allow people a much longer period to plan and pay for their tickets, while still continuing the battle against ticket touting. By paying as little as £50 up front this year, our registered customers from all over the world will be able to guarantee a ticket for next year's event. At the same time, the very successful registration scheme will ensure that tickets will only go to those named individuals who have reserved them in advance.
So, after years of selling tickets to people who often don't have much money, with the clientelle now better off, Glasto has come up with this scheme to ease the impact on our wallets. Very commendable.

Or, have they noticed how many people looked at the rumoured line-up last year and decided to go elsewhere and thought it best to get the tickets sold out before they announce that Blazing Squad are the 2009 headliners? scratchchin
