Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Talk Talk were hugely talented geezers?

Just been listening to The Colour of Spring.... Totally blown away every time!

I`m 28, and was too young for them in the eighties, but compared with todays musicians, they were, well, pretty bloody good i think!

Talk Talk were incredible. No doubt about it.

Started off as a fairly average synth band and just improved with every record. The Colour of Spring is fantastic. Spirit of Eden is my favourite though, so different from their original style and still sounds groundbreaking now.

They are one of the most underated bands ever, and never really had the success they deserved.

I'd agree. When I heard 'Life Is What You Make It' I was blown away, and just about everyone I play it to agrees. Their other material is very good, lyrically and harmony wise.

Amazing live too ~ saw them in 1986 at Manchester Apollo for Colour of Spring tour ~ still the best concert I've been to. Smilie has the same glasses as Mark Hollis cool

I was a kid when they were around and all I've really heard are 'It's my life' and 'Life's what you make it'. I've just had a scan through what I could find on Youtube and doesn't their music sounds so timeless! Next albums on the list.

Agreed - the missus was listening to the No Doubt version of 'It's my life' and commented that they'd writeen a really great song. Hmmmmm....

So I played her the original and was blown away by it.

I don't think they were underated as such, certainly not at the time - perhaps, not as well remembered as some of the other bands of the time.

I've got most of their albums and tend to fall into the "early camp" with regard to them. "The Party's Over" and "It's My Life" tend to be played a lot. The Only Album I don't have is "Laughing Stock" as to be Honest I don't like "Colour of Spring"(beyond "Life's what you make it"), or "Spirit of Eden" so felt another trip into "navel watching" wasn't for me.

Happiness is easy! I just took my laptop up to the bathroom and had a listen while having my monthly soak. I like that tune and New Grass - beautiful! Still there's plenty more Talk Talk tunes to listen to yet and I'm sure I'll profess that they're all my favourites too. Hollis' expressions on the 'such a shame' video are quite funny.

I was listening to the Colour of Spring last night and had to remind myself that ti was released in 1986. Timeless music.
