Singers, what's your prefered drink during a gig to lubricate the old vocals ?

What's sweet enough to soothe and coat, but not too sticky to cloy up the throat ?

Cheers !

In the regular gigging days, JD + Coke or Bud. These days, a good malt...

My Dad doesn't drink before a gig or a sing. We were told never to drink alcohol before singing when I was in the choir, it dries out the vocal chords apparently. We were also told don't eat chocolate before singing either, it clogs the vocal chords with gunge, same with milk or coffee or tea! We got a bking off our teacher at school for eating malteasers before our musical performance.

One of the best remedies I have used for singers is peppermint tea with a small dash of honey mixed in.
Alongside some proper breathing and sinus exercises it can work wonders.

Ribena's good actually, I've used it when recording when my voice gets tired and it works amazingly well, a producer recommended it to me many moons ago. Before gigs it used to be beer for me more often than not!!! Or in the case of a particularly rowdy all day gig I took a pint glass 3/4 full of JD onstage with me!

I don't take anything apart from water but I would take the odd throat sweet during the day if I'm performing at night.
