The Beatles produced great, original songs, well ahead of their time.

Why are people besotted by:

Coldplay?
Amy Winehouse?
The Verve?
Oasis?

They wrote and performed some decent tunes, some of which I really like, some of which get on my wick.

I believe they had a modicum of talent, nothing special, but they were in the right place at the right time and were fortunate enough to have shrewd management.

Although this can pretty much be said for any "over-rated" group.

Because the Beatles were the world's first supergroup, along with The Rolling Stones, their music is timeless and will still be played in 200 years, which is more than can be said for most of the st produced since 1990....(Simply Red excepted)

Have you listened to some of the todays 'music' ?

Obviously not, as you set this poll.

I'd rather listen to the Beatles than most of the modern stuff - Coldplay music to die by, Amy Winehouse very apt name ..'wine' she does that a lot.

Anyway, yes the Beatles music is very good and I like it.

If you don't, fine, but you are the one missing out not me!

The Beatles wrote some great pop song, and some great songs full stop. Mostly the songs stand teh test of time far better than the lacklustre Beatles' performances .. the link to In My Life above demonstrates this I think .. the Beatles get it so wrong (especially ringo starr, what simply appalling drumming) .. but click these blue words to see how it should always have sounded IMO.

Now, if the Beatles had sounded like this, I'd have been interested.
