Don't think it is a Led Zep song

Oh, just a thought.
well its someone along those old rocker lines, it was on Virgin radio during the week but I failed to note who it was, and i actually thought JA had done something charming and original up until then thanks

The sound does suit Robert Plant. Perhaps it was one of his solo efforts

I did really mean the guitar riff, sorry if i've not made this clear.

the other day I [i]thought[/] I was listening to Janes A, but after a minute it was obviously not them, or indeed 'No rain today' but something terribly like it, and from much much earlier.

Coulden't find JA on video anywhere performing the song, so instead put up
the link at top.

cheers G

I'm not sure I get what you are asking. The song on your link is by Blind Melon, and as far as I know they wrote it! In fact i'm sure they wrote it, as that song was beyond huge in America at the time, thats why everyone covers it!

They were touted as a kind of modern day blues type band... really sad that Shannon Hoon went a bit off the rails as they were a mega band!

Thanks T,
Perhaps I'm on the wrong track straight off then.

I'm pretty sure the version I heard was older, just an impression of course, and its that (quirky) acoustic guitar riff and phrasing, and I thought at once,
'Oh so its not Janes original'

Thyanks for info on blind M' though anyway

There is a vague similarity to the riff on 'Friends' by Led Zep. Is that what you heard?

Just to confuse things further, of course Blind Melon appeared on the "Encominium" LZ tribute album, covering Out on the tiles...

I know that doesn't help, just thought of it when BM were mentioned on a LZ thread
