I know its not exactly new, but i've just played it for the first time in ages, and by God that's a powerful song.

His version of Bridge Over Troubled Water is similarly awesome.

Just thought i'd share...

one of the best ones is "I see a darkness" which is a cover of a will oldham (bonnie prince billy) song... they sing it together. The Cash version is great, but the original is probably the best song I've ever heard.

+1

Tops tracks on the american recordings albums.. Covers that are way better than the original songs and some stunning versions of his own material.

Realing amazing that Johnny Cash's definitive work was his last few albums, whereas most artists are generally floundering in mediocrity (at best) towards the end of thier career/life.

Apparently, Trent Renzor commented that Hurt was "Cash's song now" after hearing his version...

The song was definitely more relative to Cash, though I can't help thinking the original is better.

Last year when I saw NIN live, trent played the first half of the song solo - it was awesome....

Now come on chaps, get serious. Trent's original was ok, Johnny's version was ok, but the definitive has surely to be this?!
