Just heard 'Rock 'n' Roll High School' on the radio and it really is faily clear that The Ramones were never really a punk band but nothing more than a over-hyped high school band that would be more suited to Grease - The greasier musical. biggrin

'Rock 'n' Roll High School' was a real low point in their career, but as a live act second to none saw them play twice once in 1n 76/77 era and their last UK gig in 96 (I think)and they still had it.

Ps the two surviving members toured the the US under the name of The Remains !

The Ramones did some really good songs and the later stuff I wouldn't class as "high school".

The Ramones were 'punk' in as much as 'punk' is difficult to categorise... LOL!

From 'Beat On The Brat', 'Cretin Hop' and 'Pinhead' right through to '...High School' they produced quickfire danceable POP.

Every time I saw the band I experienced a bigger crush, a greater shortage of air and more pain that I experienced at any other of the hundereds of gigs I've attended.

Quite brilliant.
