I've just picked up my guitar again after several years break (although I wasn't very good at all when I stopped all that time ago!). How about some easy to play songs that sound good (either chords or tab would be great - can't read music).

"House of the Rising Sun" is easy enough Am / Cmaj / Dmaj / Fmaj / Am / Cmaj / Emaj

All using "cowboy" chords.

Another one is "Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out" by Clapton. Obviously, Eric fills it out a bit, but the basic chords are Cmaj / Emaj / Am7 / Am7 / Dm / Am / Dm / Fmaj / Cdim (?? picture a standard Emaj chord, then use that fingering with the index finger on the high E, 2nd fret) / Dmaj / Gmaj / Am7 / D7 / G7 / Cmaj. Listen to the tune. It'll make more sense.

"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is a nice one; simple chords, but needs decent fingerpicking skills.

My favourite "camp fire" tune is "Bron-yr-Aur", and it's a bit of a quandary.

First, re-tune the guitar to CACGCE (low to high).

Then your left hand will have a really easy time (trust me). The difficulty is the picking hand, which has to be accurate. Very accurate. But it's real nice when you get it right. Listening to the tune beforehand is a BIG help again.

from memory Patience opening part strum, part arpeggio - play it freetime to give it a real feeling

C, G, A, D.

Wanted dead or alive by bon jovi - if you can master the arpeggio intro the chords are easy.

D, C, G (tinker with a few hammer ons and pull offs) then C, G, F, D for the chorus.

all from memory btw.

One that initially looks hard to play but really isn't is the chords for Sultans of Swing,

starts of at Dminor, then down the next two frets at a time then open A.

the rest is straightforward, but sounds really good.

Most Oasis stuff is in E or G, so again fairly straight forward.

HTH
Almost spot on with patience - you just forgot the Em in the chorus. preceded by all strings played open.

Cheers for that,

I am also wuite partiasl to an acoustic version of Metallicca's Fade to Black.
Also, any song by Spain lends itself very well to acoustic playing

and lets not forget, if all else fails and the repetoire is almost spent, one can always muster up a rendition of Stairway to Heaven wink
