Roksan Attessa ATT-DP2P - How much is it worth?
Discussion
I've got a Roksan Attessa ATT-DP2P which I'm thinking about selling however I'm not sure how much it's worth...
In it's time, it had a retail of about £2000 in 1994 but it's still considered a seriously high-end bit of kit (that much I know).
The unit is in perfect condition and was serviced recently (2 years ago), and had the whole transport and laser servo replaced by a Roksan approved specialist. It also has the original remote and transport screws.
This picture is not my unit....

What's one of those then?Very much in the spirit of 'to each their own', I'd have to be at least a millionaire before I'd buy a CD player for £2k - and there's a long list of other things I'd spend my cash on first!

What is so "high end" about it
Looks like an old plaster's radio ......
You should have a look at some other high end audio gear. Weird and wonderful shapes!Looks like an old plaster's radio ......
The difference between this and a normal high-street CD player is immense. In CD's that are mixed and compiled properly you hear things that you wouldn't otherwise in cheap players. The detail is incredible and if you listen to a lot of CD music, it's a real treat.
Of course you need the good speakers, cable, amp, etc to go with it, but combined it's rather nice

It's not obviously worth £2k, but I'm guessing around £500. There used to be a lot of hifi junkies on here so I thought I'd ask.
If it's not worth selling as the value is low, I'll just keep it. Bang for buck, it's just amazing.

My bro once spent an awful lot on a system, all sorts of makers I'd never heard of, and very expensive. The speaker cables alone cost about £200 apparently. Whilst it was obviously good quality, I had to be quite tactful when he demonstrated it to me as I didn't think it much better than his previous set-up (or my much cheaper one for that matter).

My current cable is about £15 per meter and I have 12 meters, plus my interconnects set me back £50 for just 0.5m!!! They sound good though!
But I think you are right in saying it's hard to tell the difference. Plus you do have to listen to a lot of music and it must be mastered well. MP3's obviously cannot be tested on such a system.
I did however get an amazing bargain once. My last record player (which I sold), was a Mantra Manticore. Absolute top end stuff in the late 80's early 90's and I sold that on eBay for €450. It also turns out the cartridge on the arm was worth €4500 new!!! But after a few years they're worthless as the rubber diaphragm wears out. Insane....

Does google not work in Austria or is this a thinly disguised thread to show off about an expensive CD player?
One sold on italian ebay for 416 euros in December.
Keep it.
Sorry, being a general ratbag today.
Actually...it's the Swiss ebay! But I learnt it was a faulty unit as I mailed the seller. One sold on italian ebay for 416 euros in December.
