Planet Rock to be axed!
Discussion
Likewise, I'm appalled at the news.
Please can everyone who is into any form of rock music get behind the station
and send your support on the form on the below link.

The alternative is just being left with countless commercial radio stations
simply cloned from county to county.
Be it Classic, Progressive, Heavy, AOR or Punk - please help this station by
simply giving a moment of your time to post your comments.
Thank you.

Oh, and sorry for the repost - I saw another thread on this on Pie and Piston.
Hmph, just got back from band practice and we're all in a grump about it - it's odd, I don't think I've been this bothered by something closing down before. I think it's what it stands for really, the slow erosion of something that actually stands out a bit from the norm. Or something. I actually got a DAB radio for Christmas, JUST for Planet Rock.
Having had another look at the website, it appears that if a buyer doesn't step up to the plate, it will be gone by the end of March. I've been kicking around the 'buy a share of' idea all night based on sites like this:
www.ownthesports.com
I genuinely think this would have legs as Planet Rock already has enough listeners who would probably all pledge a few quid if someone took ownership of a website that would allow them to buy it outright and vote on decisions etc. Unfortunately, I think it just would not be feasible within such a short timeframe...unless, the staff at Planet Rock organised it themselves and invited people to get involved over the next few weeks Worth an email do you think?

FROM PLANET ROCK
We're pleased to bring you the news we have all been waiting for....
At long last we're delighted to be able to announce that Planet Rock's future is now secure. We have been purchased by life long rock and radio fan Malcolm Bluemel and his consortium supported by our very own Tony Iommi, Ian Anderson , Gary Moore, and Fish, saving Planet Rock from certain closure.
In a deal finalised today Malcolm takes control of the station with immediate effect, there will be no break in transmission or changes in programming.
Everyone at the station is over the moon and more than a little relieved that we've got the outcome we hoped for and that the wait is over. Now we can get back to normal.

It looks like and sounds like a result for ye olde metal militia.
Time for to get some Boddies down us neck in celebration.
