Hi MusicHeads !
getmecoat I just found this section of PH,
there seems to be a great variety of tastes and styles,
both from musicians and listeners..............thumbup
My question :
How is your opinion about Henry Rollins / Rollins Band ?
I won´t post youtube and wiki links, there are plenty.
Sadly he is not making music any more (at least regularly),
but concentrating more on doing "spoken word" performances,
writing books and doing other media stuff like radio and TV shows.
I am impressed by his intense stage performances,
be it singing (and shouting) or speaking.
He has quite an interesting biography,
and seems to put his money -and actions- where his mouth is.
His ranting is something that should go well with PH folk.....biggrin
Cheers,
Benni

His stuff with Black Flag was pretty cool, and intense too!

i just recently started checking out some of his stuff with the Rollins Band funnily enough!
"Liar" and "Disconnect" are stand out tracks i've heard thus far, very good, yet very powerful too
he certainly had a very enigmatic stage presence thats for sure!

Yep, as a hardcore vocalist, Rollins has been an inspiration to me growing up, he's an extremely intense live performer. I remember seeing a documentary on him a while ago and you could see that when he came off stage he was actually seething and everyone backstage just left him alone for quite a while afterwards!

Rollins is a legend.

Check out "American Hardcore" (film, no not one of those films...) - contains a lot of early footage of the beginnings of Black Flag (amongst all the others from that time, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Circle Jerk, Agnostic Front, Corrosion etc)

He stood in as vocalist for The Ruts at Foxy's Cancer show in London.

This makes him about as near to the top as a musician can get for me..... smile

if i let you, you would make me destroy myself
in order to survive you, i must first survive myself
i can sink no further, and i cannot forgive you
there's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you
ive gone to great lenghts to expand my threshold of pain
i will use my mistakes against you, there's no other choice
im shameless now, im nameless now, im nothing now, im no one now
but my soul must be iron 'cause my fear is naked
im naked and fearless
and my fear is naked

First I heard was Black Flag "Damaged". Great stuff smile

"Get in the van" is a good read, all about the days on the road with Black Flag. Really enjoy his later stuff too, it can be very motivating in a noisy way....
