Has anyone heard the single RockFerry, by this girl singer Duffy?

I like a bit of throwaway pop, but this sounds like it could be the beginning of a very talented career. I haven't sought out too much on the Google, but she's from Wales and having watched the video, she is pretty.

But it's the voice that makes it seem special. It's a soaring epic of a pop tune, loaded with emotion - it sounds like something from the fifties. But in a good way.

I was reminded of Dusty Springfield, or Lulu's To Sir With Love.

Terrific.

There's a very intereting 1960s Girl Singer type revival going on - spearheaded by the wayward Amy Winehouse. I've always liked that 1960s style and that type of arrangement so it's nice to hear new original songs with new singers singing in that style.

You can hear Bernard Butler's influence in Rockferry, I think it's a brilliant song. Guaranteed to get the volume turned up as high as possible

Album is due end of this month I think.

She has a terrific classic noirish look about her. And the voice is amazing.

She is pretty, but in a normal way, not in that false 'celebrity' way.

Could all be very interesting.

Did anyone read the review of her in The London Paper yesterday? It was a bit mixed. My favourite quote was "lyrical complexity that makes Kate Nash sound like Tolstoi".
