Well, after ooohh.. about 27 years, I decided to treat myself at Christmas and finally got round to buying one of my all time 'dream' guitars.

A '61 re-issue Gibson SG smile

Lush! I love my SG - so playable and amazing sound...I must say, I'm jealous of your black case. Mine's brown with a rubbish mauve muppet skin interior - do you only get black with the '61 re-issue?

Don't know really. I saw a variety all with black cases, but different interiors. The white really sets off the cherry smile

Lovely, lovely, lovely.

I tried an SG a few years ago, but - like Clarkson & the GT40 - I couldn't get comfortable with it. Doesn't stop me wanting one.

My PRS has the same colour combo though!

Nice - a no-frills workhorse guitar. They're a lot more versatile than most people credit them for as well. I've seen jazzers, R&B and even country players use them.

Only thing I'd change is the cooker knobs (correct for vintage I know, but I just prefer the speed knobs).

Yeah, I hear you, but I want to keep it 'original' smile

I was looking at the Angus Young edition (but didn't want the vibrola) or a standard - however, I wanted the slim taper neck, so short of getting a custom shop standard it was the '61 for me.

I prefer the pick guard on a standard though smile

Well done that man, looks a peach. I'll have to make do with my copy until I can a) afford one, and b) actually play the damn thing

When Pete Townsend got caught looking at child porn on the internet, my mate rang Sound Control to see if they'd reduced the price of their Townsend sig sg !

Looks brilliant, whilst I have never really liked them (maybe an aversion to Angus Young) they are great to play and as people say much more versatile than one might think.

It is always brilliant when you finally get something you have always really wanted, the problem now is what do you yearn for next?

I'm after a tele, just not sure which yet....

I suspect it might be black, or even have some sort of evil eye on it smile
