Stuff seems to take ages to get out to Oz, so what should I be trying to listen to? Not into the next new jangly guitar band, a la Arctic Monkeys or whatevers next, only to be over the hill in about 3 weeks time, but something genuinely good and lasting.

Interested in most stuff, though find R'n'B a bit dull (maybe I've not heard a good 'un...) Just got a copy of Emilie Simon's first album which is great. Last rock/pop stuff I got was Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, and Freelance Hellraiser - Waiting to Land. Last dance stuff was Ewen Pearson - Piece Work, and 2 Many DJs - Part 2 (contains awesome mix of 'Where's you head at' spliced with 'Peter Gunn Theme')

What else is out there????

The whole album is rather good (Great Vengeance And Furious Fire), I really like track 5 - Girl.

Try Benjy Ferree's album "Leaving The Nest" and Black Mountains new album "In The Future" is awesome!

Thanks for these - like the sound of The Heavy, and already have Kings of Leon. Will check out all recommendations, though, so if there are any more out there, pass 'em on!

biggrin

Get the first album - one of the best debut in recent years and is both rock and dance.

The Rumblestrips! I challenge anyone not to dancing like a loon by the end of the girls and weather album and live they are a huge blast of energy.

Brilliant!
