Evening all,

I enjoy listening to 60s/70s and 80s music, but i haven't got the typical tracks from those Eras. So i was wondering if you could recommend me some music from those periods.

Thanks

Big Chris

Try:

http://www.pandora.com

You can do a search for 60s, 70s and 80s etc. IIRC and then it starts to prompt you with stuff you *might* like. Alternatively, run it up and create a new Depeche Mode radio station, roll your suit cuffs up and go with the flow...

For the 80s, it has to be something by Duran Duran - maybe Save A Prayer?

For the 80's:
Go West - Call Me
Cars - Drive
Mr Mister - Kyrie or Broken Wings

Depeche Mode seconded.
Paul Hardcastle - 19
Ian Dury/Blockheads
Eurythmics

70s would have to include Queen.

Also look for some Uriah Heep, early AC/DC, The Doors, loads of NWOBM bands - Black Sabbath etc.

Lots of Abba
Queen
Ultravox

I was a DJ in the early 80's and my musical taste seems to be stuck there.

There are loads of brilliant tracks but depends on your taste.

All time favourite? Martha & the Mufins - Echo Beach

Track down "Axe Victim", "Futurama", "Sunburst Finish", "Modern Music" and "Drastic Plastic" by Be-Bop Deluxe, "Sound on Sound" by Red Noise and "Quit Dreaming and Get on The Beam", "The Love that Whirls" and "Getting the Holy Ghost Across" by Bill Nelson . I'd also recommend "Metamatic" by John Foxx, "Happy Families" by Blancmange and "Sulk" by The Associates.

Chris, don't know what your music tastes are but for the 60's and early 70's search for Northern Soul. Google will give you loads, also try You Tube. This will give you a taste of what it's all about. You could call it underground (at the time) Mowtown.

I do as well. It's just so superior to the "Northern Soul" version.
