For me the biggest has to be Pink Floyd. Pleasant enough music, nice songs etc why so popular and why so much acclaim. Often touted as one of the best bands in history and as having some of the best songs.

Other ones are U2 and Oasis. Not saying I don't like their music, I just don't get why people rave about them and why they are so popular.

Radiohead. 'OK Computer' regularly appears in the top album ever lists, and I've given it a few listens, but I actively dislike it, not even neutral...

Oasis, didn't The Beatles do it MUCH better the first time?

'OK Computer' I bought it when it came out and was a bit none plused by it on the first couple of listening, but then I don't know what happened but I think its fabulous and still do ten years on, music is so emotive , I find my music taste grows by the week,(Jazz,techno,70's prog rock, punk, alternative, world, classical, etc)but there are still bands I can't abide, Oasis and a certain 'ska' band (don't worry am not going there again)

The Police, oh my god dull as. Great musicians but I can't stand them.

David Bowie except the odd truly great song

And... pertinent considering last week - Led Zep. Ok band, songs are all right but there were and are loads of bands better than them.

All in my opinion of course!

+1, in my teens I even tried to like them when all of my mates were digging through their parents record collections for old classics, I loved all of the Who, Rolling Stones stuff I came acrossetc. but could never 'get into' the beatles. This doesn't stop the disbelief from most lovers of beatles music, who make it seem like you almost have to like the beatles or else you're just don't know what good music is!

Too many to list...

Basically all 'popular' music. It's all so bland & easy & dirty dishwater, puddle grey, middle of the road dull, dull, DULL. I'd rather stick knitting needles in my ears.

I'm with you on the Peppers and Coldplay. Especially Coldplay.

I think with Coldplay, all the critics had been brainwashed by pap-pop; mindless sh!te with no direction, simple tunes, and the preference of image over talent. Then....along comes a group who play instruments and write their own tunes!!! Shock!!!

No matter that the playing is average and the songs are dreary, it's like "Real Music, Dude!!!".

Yea.

Right.

IMO, not really. I think they're both crap. Just don't see what the fuss was about...

I find that the Foos only manage about 2-3 good tracks per album - the rest are just filler...

yes Radiohead are one of my favourite bands, although I must admit 'The Bends' is still my favourite album, especially the tracks towards the end.

"OK Computer" is a fantastic album, although I think the reason it scores so highly in the polls is possibly because there were a lot of polls around the time it was released (the millenium, when everyone was going polls left, right and centre), and because it sold at a peak in Radiohead's fame. I think that 'The Bends' and 'Pablo Honey' would have sold more copies and been rated more highly had Radiohead been more famous at the time. As many great bands prove time and time again, it's not the seminal album that sells, it's the follow up.

Bruce Springsteen, never saw the appeal. He may be the Boss to millions, but I've never been inspired by his songs.

The Beatles & their members, 99% of the stuff they did was shite bar 1 or 2 tracks that were OK. Don't understand why anyone would still care.

I didn't really care for Pink Floyd until I was given a copy of The Delicate Sound Of Thunder on Laserdisc (remember them?) and was captivated, been an obsessed fan ever since, it is difficult to explain why I think they're so good so I can appreciate why they'd not be for everyone.
