Since I have got into metal I've come across a few bands that sing in languages that I can't understand. Despite this, I reckon they're great.

Rules:

1) You can have a maximum of two bands.
2) You can't understand their lyrics.
3) You have to think they're great - not that you just don't understand them.

So I put forward:

  • Rammstein (German - industrial metal)
  • Korpiklaani (mostly Finnish - folk metal)
ETA: Some genre info would go down well.

Killing Joke. OK, so you can understand some of their lyrics when they turn the distortion down (they were Nirvana's main inspiration alongside the Pixies), but most of the time - huh? Great band though.

Rammstein - german band who are amazing live. (industrial-ish)

The Mars Volta (In a genre of their own - Post hardcore punk, prog rock, jazz)- sing in a mixture of English and Spanish throwing in some of their own made up words (Meta-Amputechture Televators etc.). Very different and all of their albums take a while to get into, but well worth a listen.

Cradle of Filth.

Goes to the trouble to write rather flowery lyrics, then screams them unintelligably.

And I second system of a down. Clearly mad.

My very favourite band - ever.

But some of Black Francis' lyrics can be pretty indecipherable.
Until you find out what he's actually singing and realise that you did understand and it simply makes no sense.
