Any views on the best of the sub-£100 wah pedals? Looking at maybe the Dunlop GCB95, Morley Classic, Vox WAH847.

Thanks folks.

I've got a Boss PW10, which models loads of classic wahs, with the addition of UniVibe, O/D and voice modes. Whilst it may not sound exactly like a Morley/Vox/Jen etc., it's close enough. You can pick them up new on eBay for a little over £100 new, maybe £70-80 on auction.

See if you can borrow one first. I got bored with mine very quickly.

I've got a kit one from Maplin and it's suprisingly good!

You need to be reasonably handy with a soldering iron though!

Hmm. The seeds of doubt are starting to germinate...

I was looking for summat for an idea of an xmas pressie to go with the amp I'm hopefully getting (assuming Santa has got my letter).

Mind you I can barely coordinate two hands, never mind adding a foot into things wobble

They're fab.I prefer Dunlops to Morleys and Budda to Dunlop but they're over your budget.

They sound best through tube amps as well

Get a teese wah pedal, they sound great. Most musical wah I've played in a long time. Not sure what the prices are like, but you're better off with a used one of them than a new dunlop, thats for damn sure!

Don't get a Morley Classic! Out of the box only a fraction of the pedal travel results in a usable tone, though this can be fixed. You can't go wrong with a Crybaby or Vox imo, though my brother has an Area 51 wah which sounds amazing. It's close to USD 200 though.

If you are really into wah, its worth shelling out a bit more to get a good boutique wah pedal. The crybabys and voxs aren't bad, but they are just average. My vote still goes to the Teese. See if anyone near you is a dealer so you can at least try one out and see what I'm on about, once you play with one a bit, there is no going back. So much more musical, the whole sweep is eminently usable, never sounds shrill, never sounds muddy. Love it too bits. Do yourself a favor! Try it! Try it! Try it! Try it!

(and no, I don't own the company, I just like them)
