M-Audio Keystation Pro 88
Discussion
Anyone used one of these beasties:
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/KeystationPr...
Their spec looks very good, they go on Ebay for £200 quite often.
Never actually seen one in the flesh.
Would be nice to get a full weighed keyboard and this one looks particularly well spec'ed.
Cheers

That looks fantastic!
Which is what I base most of my keyboard purchases on, because I am musically retarded. I might get one myself.
It does look the boocks but at the price I'm worried whether or not the actual keyboard would be nice to play.Which is what I base most of my keyboard purchases on, because I am musically retarded. I might get one myself.
Missed one for sale this morning which went for £210.
TBH at that price you can't go wrong.
I've never played one, but will admit I would probably steer clear at that price - but I'd say it depends on what you want/need the keys to feel like.
There's 'Weighted' and then there's 'weighted' if you know what I mean. It was around four years ago so prices won't be as current, but I needed a keyboard I could lug around instead of a piano, and started sniffing around. Found that many 'weighted' keyboards just felt more like they just had a little resistance, rather than any real 'action'. In some cases that's ok - particularly if you're gonna be using it for percussion, as there's less of a delay before initial contact and the keystroke registering. If you want it to be able to feel like a piano, I'd suggest paying a little more.
In the end I went for a Korg stage piano - basically an electric piano without the speakers and cabinet. Still had a MIDI out so is fine for most uses, other than the afforementioned percussion and electro-type leads. Which is actually causing me to consider buying another keyboard without weighted keys!!
I really would try out any keyboard before buying one though - you'd do it with a car...

I know what you're saying at this price the spec does seem to be a bit 'too good to be true'.
Only ever see them on Ebay so unable to test them out, seen a few bands use them on the telly though.
Can't really afford the 4 figure sum of a proper stage piano though, it's only for a home studio anyway.
Might buy one, if it's shite should be easy enough to sell again.
Cheers
