Megadeth
Metallica
Pantera
Iron Maiden
Guns n Roses
Machine head
My current favourites
Lamb of God
Hell Yeah

Look Forward to your responses
Matt

Lamb of Mother*uck*** God (their words not mine), had the misfortune to see them support Heaven and Hell (1980s line up Black Sabbath) a coupleof weeks ago, what a load of complete shite
davidy (an ageing rocker, brought up on 'proper metal bands' like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, early Iron Maiden, etc and 'proper rock bands' like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow, etc

Thats a fair point i was a little confused as to why they put them on the bill? I enjoyed them but I can understand why you didn't!!! Good (and bloody hard) question.
Covering ranges of distortion oriented music, in no particular order.
Black Sabbath
Ozzy Osbourne
Pantera
Metallica
Megadeth
Anthrax
Helloween
Iron Maiden
Nuclear Assault
Fear Factory
Alice In Chains
Soundgarden
Slayer
Gary Moore
Ministry
Slipknot
Gravity Kills
WASP
Clawfinger
ACDC
Prong
White Zombie
Particular favourites Gravity Kills, Clawfinger, Metallica, Pantera
Apologies for the long list, so much good music! Just realised I'm firmly stuck in the 90s! The missus is into the likes of Arch Enemy, Trivium, and other new fandangled stuff... time for me to broaden my horizons....

Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Machine-ing-head (saw them yesterday actually-awesome) Anthrax, Motorhead, Sabbath. Lamb of God, Dragonforce and children of Bodom are good from the newer metal bands-too many bands i hear recently though will have awesome riffs and drums let down by a characterless constant growl instead of any form of real voice.

You can thank, I think, Dimebag (RIP dude), Vinny J, Rex, and Phil for the current fascination with growling vocals with roaring, stomach churning riff and drum.I like Pantera, BTW. "A New Level" is a particular favourite; "got shit on, pissed on, spit on, stepped on, ed with, and pointed at by lesser men"
Megadeth, Metallica, Zep, Sabbath, Soundgarden also good.

Oh, come on guys ..... how can you forget ......
Motorhead (original lineup with Philty and Fast Eddie)

And if you're bringing them up, got to mention Fast Eddies other band Fastway - saw them at the Hyde Park Calling, absolutely fantastic.Motorhead (original lineup with Philty and Fast Eddie)

From last night, I'd definitely have to put Within Temptation up there. As well as Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Placebo (okay, their more just rock?), Cradle of Filth, Angtoria .... just way too many to mention.

In no particular order:
Black Sabbath
Heaven & Hell
Ozzy (solo stuff)
Iommi (solo stuff)
Metallica
Motorhead
Black Label Society
Stone Sour
AC/DC
Aerosmith
Led Zep
Faith No More
Velvet Revolver
Audioslave
Soundgarden
Black Stone Cherry
Korn
Coheed & Cambria
QOTSA (earlier stuff)
Hawkwind (early stuff)
Like many others, I just can't abide the shouty/growly vocals emitted by some neanderthal with all the charisma of a mic stand (yes, I too endured Lamb of God recently).
