My Bloody Valentine - Sometimes
Discussion
Good grief, haven't heard that for a while! I thought it was pretty good stuff at the time - well ahead of it's time - though I haven't listened to any for a few years & I'm not sure how well some of it's aged.
I really like 'Soon' from that album but I always preferred the rawness of their work on 'Isn't Anything' overall.
MBV always tended a bit towards politeness for my tastes though, I like my music with a few more teeth. If you're interested in something similar but with a darker side, I can strongly recommend listening to Cranes.

Although you'd have to say for a bit of darkness you need to go towards the early Cranes stuff (Self-non-Self, Wings of Joy) rather than the rather breezy music they were putting out by the time Jewel came along.I really like 'Soon' from that album but I always preferred the rawness of their work on 'Isn't Anything' overall.

On those lines (ectophilic music with a darker edge) then the Cocteau Twins up to and including Blue Bell Knoll should fit the bill.
