Mobile act unsigned and Jo fecking Whiley

I used to like Jo Whiley. Then I saw the Mobile Act Unsigned programs over the weekend (kind of X-factor for grown ups....) and she was on the panel for that quite openly rejecting anything that featured a guitar solo.
What has she got against people with talent? Yes, they can be self indulgent or simply crap, but they can also be sublime virtuoso peformances.
I was amused by the way they kept saying "we're looking for something different" then turning down anything remotely out of the ordinary and going for a lot of generic 'the' band, indie bands. That said, lasts weeks show they had about 4 bands back to back with seriously hot female singers, so it's not all bad

Jo, like most of Radio 1, only likes what she's told to like by record company pluggers. The idea that they are having a reality TV show to give a contract to an unsigned band whilst ONE unsigned band has so far CHARTED TWICE without a record company and can't even get on the Radio 1 playlist makes me puke. Tossers.
