Spending lots more time in the car of late and apart from Terry Wogan on the way to work i'm bored with my CD's and I fancy listening to something different.

I'll listen to anything once and recently i've been into chilled out music like Country (Rascal Flatts, Lonestar etc), Mike and The Mechanics, Lene Marlin, Three Doors Down, Don Henley + whatever is on the MP3 CD's that are in the car. In fact lately most stuff has been "older" stuff.

I've just downloaded Matchbox Twenty's new album Exile On Mainstream which seems good so far. I'm also waiting for the new Eagles new album The Long Road Out Of Eden which is out at the end of the month.

So what's everyone been listening to lately and would you recommend it? I fancy listening to some new bands/artists!

Cheers,
Phill

May not be your Cup of Tea, but the two strongest themes for me are at the moment are :

Minimal Techno and Dubstep.

A hybrid of the two is emerging, which might be called Ministep, or perhaps Dubno.

Groove Armada is nice to, well, groove along to (also has nice chillout tunes).

For the drive home, try ClassicFM (don't tune in in the morning as Simon Bates is a blithering idiot).

I'm listening to John Mayer's continnum album at the moment, catchy tunes laid back bluesy stuff, and his strat guitar tone is very nice indeed.

Other than that, Magic numbers is a little different, a bit like Mamas and Papas in style. Scott Matthews - acoustic slide and percussion, def worth a listen. Memorable tracks.

Other than that, Paolo Nutini, Newton Faulkner, David Gilmour, Kate Rusby and a few others

I have picked up some older hip-hop tunes just recently rediscovering old favorites which influenced a chance buy when out shopping ...and what a result, I found (admittedly a 2003 album, but still new to me) 'Music for the Mature B-Boy' by DJ Format. I can't think of many albums that I own that I love every bit of but from start to finish this one rolls along with a cheeky grin on its face and some real corking tracks and skits.

If you are into your Hip-Hop? this is along the lines of tuneful/funky beats and sharp/funny lyrics with a real 'get up and shake it' feel, always seems to put a smile on my face. The tunes have a similar feel to groups such as 'Jurrassic 5'. DJ Format is english (from Brighton).

Saw a video to a quirky band called MuteMath on TV the other day and and now a proper fan. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b13rc6DY74A.

Also, despite not being into Emo music, I've really gotton into 30 Seconds to Mars. The 2nd album is probably one of my favourites from the past few years.

vomit Sorry but Soundgarden and Pearl Jam did this kind of stuff so much better and with much more conviction in the early '90s
