Hardly surprising. So many plagiarists around who are happy to pass others' ideas off as their own.

Who were the trendy indy whiners recently who had a big hit with a song with a tune that was note for note Kraftwerk? Maybe I missed it but at no stage did I hear any acknowledgement to the original...

Theres a couple of choons doing the rounds with C64 music in them I've heard recently - I like it a lot - reminds me of the old David Whittaker era.

Also the Casio Vl-tone drums are back in fashion so it would seem.

I personally think its all good, nice to hear old early 80's sounds are back in, makes a change from the usual manufacturers presets.

Don't mine people re-using stuff as long as they acknowledge the original.

Beethoven used elements of Mozart's work while composing his own music.

The dirty thief!

And Beethoven used the C64 a lot in his music, I think he got his influences from Martin Galway & Rob Hubbard.

Somethings never change it would seem!

That was Coldplay's 'Talk' which sounded more than a tad like Kraftwerk's 'Computer World'.

Quoting and using other musical ideas has been going on for as long as people have been writing music. Usually though, composers are happy to acknowledge where it has come from and do not claim it as their own original work.
