half speed mastered albums.

I am cosidering buying a half speed mastered vinyl lp, it is considerably more expensive(£25.00 more) than a normal one and I am wondering how much better the sound would be?
I have a reasonable system(systemdec IIX, moth arm, sumico(sp?) blue point mc cartrige, sugden amp and monitor audio speakers)so if the quality is superior I should notice.

Yes, it will make a difference - I've got some half-speed mastered albums (Equinox and Oxygene) that are superb. They're also on thick un-recycled vinyl too.

Thanks for that, I am very tempted, it is the muical version of war of the worlds, the standard lp sounded great until my daughter cracked one of the albums so if it is better it must be superb.

I have quite a few (including the Jarre ones above), they sound fabulous.

Visit http://www.simplyvinyl.com/ they specialise in producing limited runs of classic albums on 1/2 speed heavy vinyl, if you have a decent turn table then they're a must.
