OK, I'm going back a LONG way here......
But I was lucky enough to see Queen at Wembley Stadium on the "Magic" tour in 1986, and Genesis on the "Invisible Touch" tour again at Wembley a year later.
Whilst the Genesis gig was superb, the Queen gig was far and away the best live performance I have ever seen by a band.

saw chilis at reading over the weekend. they were really bad! dunno what was going on, they had no enthusiasum and anthony kept walking off to leave the guys to fill for 5 mins! didnt play under the bridge, otherside or scar tissue!
would love to hear the foos thou!
Exactly the same at Leeds, they were by far the most disappointing band of the whole weekend. Not the worst by any means, just a disappointment.would love to hear the foos thou!
I hope you have recovered from the madness quicker than me. I still feel terrible. It's amazing what 5 days of nothing but Pot Noodles and Strongbow can do to a persons body!

I was at one of the Genesis gigs (what was it, 1985?), was the first concert I went to. Also saw Pink Floyd there the following year and the Freddie Mercury memorial concert. I tend to prefer the smaller venues though. But I was lucky enough to see Queen at Wembley Stadium on the "Magic" tour in 1986, and Genesis on the "Invisible Touch" tour again at Wembley a year later.
Not sure if these count as stadiums but:-
Saw the Foos in Hyde Park last year. They were great, but only played for about 1hr 20min IIRC. And Hyde Park is rubbish for gigs as most people can't see the stage.
Unfortunately, had to endure Hyde Park again this year (with the added benefit of rain) to see Aerosmith. It was a pretty goodshow, but they did too many power ballads & not enough of the meatier stuff.
Went to the first of the 2 Black Sabbath "Reunion" shows at the NEC circa '97.
Went to Donington 2004, 2005 & 2006 to see Metallica, Black Sabbath & Metallica respectively. I've also seen Metallica at Earls Court, in Tampa (big ice hockey stadium), and more recently at Wembley Stadium.
The top 3 (in no particular order) were Sabbath at the NEC, and Metallica at Donington 2006 and Wembley 2007.

Having just seen Apache's comment, there have been quite a few criticisms of the sound at the new Wembley Stadium. It seems that it's very dependant upon where you are in the stadium. Many of the complaints have come from people seated in the upper tiers (500-series Blocks). We were just under half a pitch length from the stage, in the lowest tier, and the sound was very good. Seems like you need to be careful when ordering tickets.

yeah im about recovered, took alot of sleeping and fruit to feel better!
who was your band of the festival, biffy and jimmy eat world were amazing!
For me it would probably be Ash or The Smashing Pumpkins. Both played a good show and both are in my top 10 favourite bands list.who was your band of the festival, biffy and jimmy eat world were amazing!
I saw Jimmy Eat World's main stage set as the acoustic clashed with Ash, I was impressed too. On the punkier side I thouht Capdown played a good set, i've seen them about 12 times now and it's always so full of energy. Shame NOFX lost their place at the festival too.
I also fell in love with Charlotte Hatherley... Perfect.

Yeah, this was the same case at hampden... Just seemed to hang on to the mic. And strolling off between song leaving the rest of the band to do some improvised jamming And no under the bridge either!! Absolutely (sp?) out his face methinks...
The others were all on top form though...

Went to see Metallica at Wembley Stadium this year and it was probably the best concert I have been to so far. They were absolutely awesome and with the exception of HIM, the supports were pretty good too! Also went to see Green Day at Milton Keynes Bowl in 2005 and they too were excellent on the big stage. Unfortunate not to have seen Foo Fighters on a stadium gig yet, though did see them a couple of years back and looking forward to their 2008 tour.

Worse gig we ever saw was Muse at Wembley, the sound just bounced around and the echo put everyone of. Prefer smaller more intimate efforts
Couldn't agree less!!I've seen Muse twice this year - once at Newcastle Telewest Arena and once at the Roskilde Festival. Both gigs were absolutely awesome! This band are amazing live, and they really suit the big stadium arenas. They have an immense sound and really go to town with the performance, the lights, the effects, everything!
Now I've stopped gushing, I will concede that some bands are more suited to 'intimate' venues, but not this one.
