Hello All!
Anyone here listen to very hardcore heavy metal, or hard rock?
I listen to loads of stuff & have a very varied & vast collection of obscure stuff!
Sarcafago anyone?

I presume you mean SarcOfago? Yes I like them, you should check out Vulcano - Bloody Vengeance, classic album from the same area+era.

I listen to all sorts of music, but mainly Metal. Black probably being my favourite style followed by Death - and then Doom/Thrash/Industrial whatever..

Hi..

There are quite a few people into Metal on here, they've maybe not noticed the music forum though.

To be honest I dont collect many records - I am interested in it, but the ones I'd like would be quite expensive. IF I ever saw them for sale in real life as opposed to on E-bay or whatever, then I could be tempted. A lot of stuff I'd be interested in goes for £100+ though. I do have some Slayer, Maiden, Paradise Lost, Emperor, Napalm Death on vinyl but nothing special.

I buy a fair amount of cd's and have a few rare items but the majority of my collection, although reasonably obscure, is not 'collectable'.

What do you collect style-wise? Mainly records or also cd's?

Just for the sake of it, I think my only rare/collectable vinyl is:

Absu - ..And Shineth Unto The Cold Cometh.. 7"
Mayhem - Dawn of the Blackhearts - 1995 (ltd 300) 12"

Some good bands mentioned there Gumpo, especially Emperor, do you like Immortal?

Incidentally my mate just recommended a band called Asgaroth to me, pretty good stuff, similar to Gojira actually (but they have been around since 2000!).

G'O'mpo, thanks smile

I like Immortal yes, I saw them the last time they played in London in 2003? maybe. Admittedly Im not into their last 3 albums so much but maybe I need to relisten to them again.

I am aware of Asgaroth, their 'Red Shift' album is always quite cheap on E-bay. I remember the the album getting a poor review somewhere so was never interested, although may download it now..

Ooops sorry dude!

I wish I'd been at Wacken to see Immortal this year, actually I wish I'd been last year to see Emperor as well (got to see them at The Astoria though so it wasn't all bad). I WILL eventually make the pilgrimage, have you been?

Yes I saw Emperor for their comeback in London in October or whenever it was.
Was great, to be honest. Probably not the same as seeing them back in the day but cant complain. Very good atmosphere. When you saw them at the Astoria was that when Bal-Sagoth supported them?

I also saw Dissection when they last played in London and that was quite a let-down - band performance was spot on but the atmosphere was crap. I am sure Immortal would have been good at Wacken, but I cant really get into the whole 'festival' thing, although those Inferno and Hole in the Sky festivals in Norway sound tempting!

You got any gigs lined up? I think I am going to Watain+Impiety and then Enslaved, both in October.

I think I saw the same gig as you back in October, I think they wit
had some female fronted band and another band supporting...I was in the bar for the support bands TBH! I WISH i'd seen 'em with Bal Sagoth, that would've been awesome.

As far as gigs lined up, Dummy Burger with Amon Amarth suppoting is one I'm really looking forward to, might go to Watain, my mate is the drummer in Necro Ritual and I missed the gig when they supported Watain last time they were over, he said they were superb so I might give 'em a go. Aprt from that I'm waiting for Goatwhore, Melecesh (sp?), Keep Of Kalessin etc to get their shit together after the tour they were going to with Marduk and Enslaved in May was cancelled, I really want to see Goatwhore especially, Sammy Duet always been one of my favourite guitarists, might got to the Walls Of Jericho, Born From Pain, All Shall Perish show as well, apart from that there's a pretty cool local scene round where I live at the moment and there's a pretty sweet extreme metal (proper stuff, not just the odd COF record) at one of the pubs in Croydon so I usually frequent them quite regularly.

Where is this place in Croydon?

My Dad and brother live in Forest Hill, and I am planning on moving down there later on in the year - so anywhere local-ish that is Metal friendly is good news!

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if I can afford to go out when I get down there - I am a bit worried about finding work.

Cheers.
