Hey hey hey, we got our wish: A Music forum

Cool Beans!

In that case as promissed, is there anyone out there who knows 'ought about a
Amps?

Specifically the VOX DA-5.

Everywhere I look on the 'net for for help simply says what a great little unit it is, but frankly that's last thing I want to hear when I fear I may have lost mine.

I was using the little beastie at work... long story... to play MP3's off my Laptop though the CD/AUX line in, and great job it was doing to.

Yep, youv'e probably guessed the rest.

Got bored, thought I would cool to hear Jimi with a shed load more reverb+Chorus+Flanger, it was really cool... Spacey.

I didn't ramp it up at all loud, and the feed from the computer was very low. There was no sign (popping or smoke etc.) of damage at the time. Before I used it again it got bumped about (by someone else's driving rage ) in the back of the car, and when I came to use it next it didn't work.banghead

There is a faint sound coming through the AUX line, but nothing from the INPUT. All the effect and edit lights seem be working normally so there's some life in it.

I suppose the question is, was it numpty me whose popped my favourite toy or numpty driver who has knocked it's light out, and does anyone know how, who, how much or whether it's even worth getting it fixed?

It's relegation to the baby Silvertone in the mean time and that's just boring without the effects.irked

Any comments (except stupid git etc, I already knew that!) gratefully recieved.

Cheers
DM

I would say it was more down to the driving than your feed from the computer. Could be all sorts causing the problem but I'd guess something like a cracked / dry solder joint somewhere, or maybe even just something to do with the input jack itself.

If it was me, given that it's having a bit of trouble already, I'd whip it apart and see if you can see anything obvious, or beg the help of a friend with a little electronics knowledge and access to a solder iron.

Thought the same so I have whipped it apart and found nothing obvious, but it's encouraging that you think it was the bunping rather than pumping... should be easier to trace the glitch.

I will see if I can find a techy mate to have look at it for me.

Cheers H!
