Read in one of the sunday papers today that Led Zep are to reform for a concert for the founder of Island Records, and talks have been going on about a possible tour afterwards. Obviously Bonzo is no longer with us, so Jason Bonham is pencilled in to do the tub thumping duties.

I'd like to see them, having never seen them live, but would it be an anti-climax after all these years - would percy still be able to belt out all those high notes?

I'd like to think it would be an amazing event.

What do folks think?

was just thinking to myself the other day....it's been a long time since I rock & rolled yikes

There is absolutely no chance (imo) Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are now barely on speaking terms...

Page has been badgering Plant for over twenty years to reform the group, but Robert seems happy playing in back street pubs to 150 people, and, let's face it, he hardly needs the money.....

Let's just remember them as they were with Bonzo in the classic era between 1969-1975, they were washed out by Knebworth in '79, (I attended both, and Earls Court in '75), even then they were a shadow of their peak years around 71/73......

Still, stranger things have happened...............scratchchin

I'd agree Wacky. 'Twas nice to say I'd been, but Knebworth's a poor place to see anyone and Zep were no exception.

Saw them at Kneb in '79, and 'WR' yes I'd have to agree they were 'all done in' by then.

But as a junior old progger who quite liked "In through the out Door" I maintain that ANY Zep is better than NO Zep.

I didn't think Robert Plant's 'new' album was very good.

It would probably be heartbreaking if they reformed. They should ramble on as they are.

yes

Having seen Pink Floyd reform for Live 8, Led Zep would just about complete it for me. They may have brooken up a few years before I was born (I think, barring live aid!) but Led Zep III was one of the first 'proper' albums I got into.

I know that many on PH saw them in their prime, but for those who didn't, it might be a once in a lifetime experience.

Saw Page & Plant doing 'Rock & Roll' on TFI Friday a few years ago and I have to say it was one of the best live TV performances I have ever seen. Not a big Led Zep fan but that was incredible.

I think it is fair to say that by Knebworth, Zep were past their prime and lacked the raw enthusiasm of earlier years.

But by Christ if some of the acts I saw on the Glastonbury footage this week represent the cutting edge of today's live performers, then for 's sake let Percy shoehorn himself into those trousers and get Pagey to dust off the violin bow wink

I saw Robert Plant singing not so long ago. His voice is as you would expect it to be at his age... not what it was when he was 20 years younger.

I'd probably still go - I had Knebworth tickets but was grounded by my Mum because of something or other biggrin

That is interesting... their accents are almost RP. I met Robert Plant in a pub about 10 years ago now and his accent was much more Midlands than that.

Got In Though the Out Door on now.

I think one thing I like about Led Zep is that their music is distinctive yet each album is different - you can hear them developing and changing with time.

I saw Page and plant play in Houston in the mid nineties, they were touring stadiums around the US, so presumably they were speaking a bit at that time, I also saw JPJ talking about that Page & Plant tour and he was obviously pissed that he had not been invited to participate, so maybe some friction between him and the other two could prevent the reformation, albiet without Bonzo.
