A moment of your time please PHers.
My son's friend's band have just released their debut single, 'No Trend' c/w a storming version of The Proclaimers '500 Miles'. bounce
If punk/rock floats your boat I would appreciate it if you would indulge me and listen to them at:

www.myspace.com/koopa

Thanks,
If anyone wants any plumbing advice don't hesitate to contact me.smile

Hi Ferg

I'll deffo have a listen and quite possibly make a purchase when I get home tonight.

Based purely on your offerings in the (sadly now defunct) Name that song in one thread, I'm sure it will be a ripper!

Looking forward to heaving the Proclaimers cover!

Thanks Nuggs.

The boys have been gigging for a couple of years and it fair breaks my heart when I see bands hyped onto Top of the Pops etc like little stylist-dressed-mannequins when they've been together 3 months.....
You can download the single for 77 pence apparently.

Better than McFly that's for sure. Kinda Green Day-esque.

It is quite good isn't it. Mind you it was a long time in the making. Budget is obviously tight etc etc I hope the single sells enough to at least be encouraging for them. They have a big fanbase on the 'Net and I spend a lot of time taking Tom and his sister and their friends to as many gigs as possible (Brentwood this Friday) Thank goodness for the Multipla!! It just seems so hard to get anywhere unless you agree to be 'styled'......but that's another story.

If you like it, can you invest 77p to download it? It would make the boys very happy.
Incidentally, they are a great live band and have a fair few songs sorted. They do one other cover apart from 500 Miles....'9 to 5' the Dolly Parton classic although my own favourite is 'Inbred' a song about the village where we live

Downloaded last night - very good! I walked in listening to it today and now feel rather upbeat, ready and raring to go (and post lots on PH). I really like the last line of Trend.

Have they been signed, Ferg? Any plans for an album?

They are signed to a small independent, they had bigger offers but were told they would have to change a few things.....so declined. They were also offered quite a large sum for one of their songs to be used by another (rather more well known) band on the proviso that they wouldn't even get a credit for writing it.......
Glad you like the single, I expect an album will be next. You can find lots of other songs on the 'Net at www.koopatheband.com and the link from there to the myspace site. Check out the lyrics to 'Mini Skirts'.
