What's your opinion on these.

Only done it the once - paid £30 to meet Lissie before her gig at the Union Chapel. Quite enjoyed the experience and got first dibs at the bar before the masses were allowed in.

But spotted a chain of descent on Social Media about a Mum and her Daughter waiting at the stage door to meet Jason Donovan after a show at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend and him being rapidly ushered to his car without a word to anyone. They complained and were told that allowing him to meet fans in that way would disrespect those who paid to do so via the official meet and greet option.

Always used to like the stage door thing back in the day. My BiL even got a lift home from Steve Harris from Iron Maiden once after a gig in Hammersmith when they established they lived near to one another.

I've never done one but I would feel very awkward so I'm not sure it's for me. Although I met petrucci at a guitar clinic he was signing stuff sat at a desk so I guess it's similar.

I'd really like to meet Mike Portnoy though to thank him for some of the stuff he wrote it really helped me in hard times. So I may engineer that at some point.

I did bump into David haye in miami once and it was quite amusing he seemed to lap it up but I think this has a different feel to a 'forced' and paid for experience

Big Big Train are heavily into Meet & Greet after the show, mingling with the audience and answering questions.
Albert Lee sits and signs autographs as does Barbara Dickson
Joanne Shaw Taylor doesn't, can't recall if it's shyness. She regularly updates her FB page.

"Never meet your heroes"

Personally, I don't really relate to the people in music, I go for what they produce and how they perform it (same as I wouldn't care if an actor I liked was a st in reality or an artist a raving Trump supporter).

As a result, I would never pay for a 'Meet and Greet' or a 'VIP package', I'm not (if I'm honest) interested in the people.

I did once have a brief chat with Lorna from Skinny Lister as I was leaving a gig once to say how good I thought they were at engaging with their audience and she seemed genuinely pleased and a lovely person.

I did tell Coco (from Coco and the Lost) that I thought they were really good as we passed on a staircase after the recent Ting Tings gig that they supported, but as for paying to say hello to a member of [insert name of band I went to see here], forget it.
