Having seen a few cheap guitars on Facebook, I thought I'd have a look for a cheap Telecaster copy. Just in the mood for one. I've got other guitars so don't need another guitar and to be honest don't really have the money. But. Loads of Strats out there, but don't seem to be any Teles. Am I right?

Strats are just more familiar looking beginner instruments. Squier Teles are decent quality and not overly expensive.

Not looked too deeply, but haven't seen any Squier Teles for sale. I'll keep looking!

Are they any good? Tele copy for about £125. I'm not a guitar afficionado.

The HB stuff is perhaps a bit variable in terms of quality but certainly great value for money. Only thing to be aware of is frequently their guitars are quite heavy.

I have been looking out for a T style over the last few months, plenty of Squier teles out there but few others. I was hoping for a Yamaha Pacifica (in my experience even the cheapest ones are really good to play) but they haven’t done a cheaper T style one for ages/they seems quite rare.

Have played a Harley Benton Tele and it was fine but, as above, a bit heavy; and the neck was a bit chunky.

I have a Squier Telecaster that just sits as an ornament in the top hallway. Tried to learn the guitar various times over the years, but just get my head (fingers) round it. frown

Is that a squire classic vibe ?

Pretty sure they have thin necks.

Just had a close look at it, and no mention of classic vibe on it. confused

Bought in a Brighton music shop around 2013 if that helps.

Sg's also have slim necks.

I'd go back and try out loads in the shop see what's comfy and fits and trade it in , you can make any guitar sound like any other but its got to fit you.

Classic Vibe Teles are a good thing, top of the Squier heap and fitted with rebranded Tonerider pups.

There is an old but very true saying " you learn to play guitar and then you learn to play Telecaster "

Back in 1976 I got rid of my 62 Tele Custom because I hadn't learned to play a Tele, nearly 50 years on I now have three in the herd

They can do, but not always. They also sit quite far to the left in terms of fretting hand position.

OP - I'd suggest an East Coast tele copy

I find my Squier Tele second hand bought for a £100 stays in tune much better than my £1300 Gibson SG, however the Squier does mains hum like a bd.
