The blazer (bottom) was my first proper guitar, I've had it for 42 years. It hasn't been played much for a long time and needs a little work.

One of the nut slots is a little low so I have some buzz, 4 of 5 of the frets near the heel have a little fret sprout so need filing.

I was thinking of filling the slot with baking powder and superglue and then recutting it. Has anyone done this?

Re the sharp frets, has anyone files and rolled frets? It seems like something that should be easy but I don't want to damage the neck.

This is never going to be a gigging guitar, and won't ever get played a lot but I would like it to be in good playable condition.

Thanks

D

Unless you have all the correct files, I’d entrust this to a guitar repair man as it’s a quick job for them and not much more than amassing all the Stewmac tools.

I usually just swap nuts out rather than filling unless it’s a collectors item.

I do like Ibanez.

Superglue and baking soda worked a treat, no more buzz. I took a nut file and carefully sorted the fret sprout, not perfect but won't shred my hand.

I'll get it sorted properly later in the year when I send it in for a fret level.
