So whilst listening to an alternative Christmas playlist on Apple Music, Desmond Dekker and the Aces popped up. It got us talking about how a singer and their band has fallen out of favour in recents times as a naming convention. The most recent we could think of was Christine and the Queens but her name isn’t actually Christine!

What’s your favourite singer and their band and anyone think of any recent ones? My favourite has to be Bill Halley and His Comets.

Mike and the Mechanics
Derek and the Dominoes
? and the Mysterions
Ian Dury and the Blockheads
Diana Ross and the Supremes

Favourite is probably
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

You are right, maybe not so many new ones, although Reverend and the Makers at a push.

The most recent one I can think of is Tyler Bryant and The Shakedown.

But other (older) ones that immediately spring to my mind are:
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Elvis Costello and The Attractions
Elvis Costello and The Imposters
Bruce and the E Street band
Bob Dylan and The Band
Neil Young with Crazy Horse (although that is a borderline one).

Rick Beato did an interesting video along similar lines a few months ago ....... Why bands are mysteriously disappearing.

8 Minutes long, but a very interesting watch, especially as it has a UK spin on it wink

We went to see the Only Ones some time late 70s.

I always remember the support was Slip Hazard & the Blizzards. Made me chuckle.

Hooty & the Blowfish sounds good too.
