Focus (the Dutch prog band, not the car)

Well I saw them for probably the 8th time on Saturday night and, wow, they just get better - what a show!
Virtuoso musicians playing music that is utterly indefinable. A world class drummer who, at the age of 78, did a very good impression of Buddy Rich/Mitch Mitchell and never broke a sweat.
Superb bassist (on a 6 string) and the brillinat Menno on guitar (a sure match for Ackerman)
Thijs Van Leer comes over as a lovely, lovely eccentric bloke who seems to genuinely love what he's doing despite looking a bit shakey on his feet these days.
And a band who did a solid 2 hours 15 minutes and looked to be enjoying every single moment.
See them if you can as they can't go on to much longer, I was blown away - what a stunning bunch of (really humble) musicians.

Have you seen the film Baby Driver ?
There's an excellent scene where a shootout is sync'd to Hocus Pocus.
There's some excellent music all the way through.

...bit of a shame that they are only largely know for that track,.. it's an outlier really and there is so much more to their work than that and 'Sylvia'.There's an excellent scene where a shootout is sync'd to Hocus Pocus.

Yes, fantastic pics! Always wondered what Thijs keeps in that purse on a string
I saw them in Carlisle so not too far away from your gig, seems they like small towns and venues which is nice.
...I've seen tham at Sage Gateshead quite a few times but I don't think they did any shows in Newcastle this time around - probably too expensive. Quite a few Geordies in the audience in Carlisle though.
