Going back a lot of years, but around 2002 I was out every weekend at venues like 414 in Brixton, EQ Warehouse in Hackney, Imperial Gardens near Oval, Viaduct in Vauxhall, and many others I probably can't remember.
At the end of the night when you were leaving people were handing out lots of flyers to all the other events that were coming up so there was never a shortage of nights to go to. You could be going from Friday night through to Sunday morning if you wanted.

As far as I'm aware those venues I mention above don't exist anymore, but if you did fancy going out to 'rave' to Hard Trance, Hard House and all that sort of stuff, are there actually any options anymore?

Not that I imagine I'll ever actually go again now I'm 40 tomorrow (god I hate that fact) but I do still love that music so have often wondered if I DID ever get the urge to go out again, where could I actually go?

Why the hell not? I go see DJ's semi regularly, every month or so with a bunch of mates who all love dance music and I'm the youngest at 39...Get over it, no one cares!

I'm 42 and still go out. Went to try out Drumsheads few weeks back (was a fan of printworks) and going to see Fatboy Slim in a couple of weeks there. Strictly day events now, no more 4am

As for hard stuff, it seems more often than not up north, however there was a day rave last weekend at XOYO with Andy Farley

Of little help to you, but I'm 50 have been to Warehouse Project in Manchester.

Isn't Drumsheds in London? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOSFP-LbsLY

Not sure exactly but E1 usually has some interesting events. I use Resident Advisor (RA Guide) to find events. That shows most things going on and some smaller or more niche events.

Not totally your style but Koko in Camden is an incredible venue and could be worth checking out.

Ahhhh yes, we used to go to Frantic at Koko a few times from memory, that's probably what we used to class as the slightly more upmarket venue/clubbing.....probably tells you how dingy our regular places were!

Yes Frantic events are probably one of the very few I am aware do still exist a few times a year, I guess I was just wondering if there were still lots of these sorts of things happening every week.
Sadly it seems looking at my calendar that day is 'family day at Christmas markets etc" rather than "get off your pickle to some banging tunes".

+1
I went to E1 last weekend for a DnB Halloween all-dayer (2-10pm, very civilized timings!), and i'm nearly 50 (jeeeez....) - not the oldest there by a long shot.
Do it!

The website is bust for me at the moment but the guys behind the Dance Music Archive run events and there's one in Leeds in December (between Christmas and NYE I think)

https://www.dancemusicarchive.com/

A wider mix of dance music than just hard house / trance though but the recording of the last one was good (IMO)

There are still squat parties in London, although the scene isn't as big as it was in the mid '90s. You just have to dig a little deeper to find them. smile

Last party sound system I got into were OCB (One Cell Brain) who had some cracking squat parties in all manner of weird and wonderful places in London a (fair) few years back.

I'm a bit old (58) now for all night dancing and what you need for such dancing. smile

Not my thing, but the lady who presents the 90s hour on our local radion station - Tone FM - was talking about how she'd been to some rave reunion at the weekend.

She's proper Zummerzet, but it sounded like she went away for it.

Just done some googling and, lo and behold, I found it. Sanctuary reunion in Milton Keynes. An outfit called Forever Presents by the looks of it and on again this Saturday.

Hacienda Classical is a sight to behold each year - it's a sea of 40/50 year olds off their nuts. Comical when bumping to the Commercial Finance Director you've just been negotiating a multi-million pound deal with.
