As autumn approaches, what are your ‘happy’ songs? The meaning or subtext doesn’t necessarily matter, just a song that makes you happy.

I’ll start with:

ELO - Mr Blue Sky

Let the Bells Ring.

Nick Cave.

I bought the album Abbatoir Blues / Lyre of Orpheus just before we got married.

Listened to it a lot during that period and every time I hear it I takes me back to being newly married, honeymoon in Venice, I had a BMW 635CSi & life was pretty good to be honest.

It also helps that its a stunningly beautiful piece of music.

It’s not my usual type of music at all, but ‘Sunchyme’ by Dario G.

Many years ago, my FiL owned a mint Porsche 911 SE Flat Nose and he invited us down to a Porsche gathering at a stately home in the Cotswolds. Everyone was welcome and there were no "Porsche Only" restrictions, so we went in our 1965 MGB roadster.

It was a beautiful day, cloudless sky, warm but not hot, and as we hit the A449 South top down I slotted a Derek & The Dominos tape into the cassette player. This was track #1:-

Happy fking days!

This is a sample of the Dream Academy “Life in a northern town”.

Still prefer the original smile

National Express, Divine Comedy, does it for me, always raises a smile.
Listened to it many, many times, still don't know how he gets the words in, in time with the music!

If I thought about it a lot more I could probably come up with a fair few, but my initial thought was Golden Years.

The fact it came from an incredibly dark time and he could supposedly only remember scraps from making that album make it all the more fascinating to me, I'm fairly sure it's my most listened to album. Of anybody.

No doubt I'll think of some more.

Good thread idea!!

So many, but off the top of my head these always take me to a happy place :

Sulking Poet - The Blossoms
Fast Car - Tracy Chapman
Wake me Up - Aloe Blacc
Give a Little Bit - Supertramp

(Bonus cringe track - but never fails to stop my wife and I spontaneously dancing, Girls Aloud - Jump )
