Evening all!

For this year's Annual Service we're planning to have music playing throughout the day with speakers 'beam linked' and positioned across the site. They are relatively small so not to over dominate; the end goal is to have background music for some ambience, but not so much that you cant hear each other speak.

Evidently I've left putting the playlist together until a matter of days before the event and now the pressure of making a mix tape for circa 6,500 people has become quite overwhelming!

I keep drafting playlists and then just go down a rabbit hole into a certain genre or defaulting to adding songs I personally like; I definitely need to become more wedding DJ with this one.

Some self-imposed guardrails:

- Don't want lift music, can't have thrash metal
- Needs to be family friendly and not to cause offence (no swearing/controversial subject matter)
- Not every track is going to keep the whole crowd happy but I would at least like to avoid making everyone unhappy!

At the risk of putting Coldplay's Greatest Hits on repeat, what would be your suggestions?

Eagle eyed cherry - save tonight
Probably any abba
Probably any oasis
Probably any RHCP
The killers- smile like you mean it

And then just a mix of "nice" songs
ELO- livin' thing
Daft punk - one more time
Ninetoes,Carl cox - finder
Junior senior - move your feet

What about some dancy songs?but not like tomorrowland.

Tieks - sunshine
Bob sinclair, fisher - world hold on
Calvin harris- bounce
LF system - afraid to feel
Planet funk - chase the sun

Maybe think about some of the following.

Travis
David Bowie
Elton John
Seal
Blondie
The Police
Dire Straits
REM
Fleetwood Mac - even if it's only The Chain!

ETA If you only play one Bowie track given the event it has to be Drive In Saturday!

Good calls

Journey did some good quality "soft rock" back in the day; stuff like:-

Stone In Love
Don't Stop Believin'
Send Her My Love
