Echo that. I saw him with The Selecter quite a few times and always had a good night.
In one of those odd coincidences, about 15 years ago I was reading a book about The Specials and it was on my desk at work and this new starter casually asked me if I liked The Selecter too and mentioned that her dad was a member! Even then I guessed he might have been part of the brass section on a 1980 tour or something, but no, Gaps was her dad. I met him very briefly once when she introduced me before a gig she had sorted tickets for. RIP Gaps.

My own claim to Selecter fame is getting into a conversation with Pauline in a retro clothing shop, and her giving me a peck on the cheek
