I haven’t posted one of my mixes here in years. However, having just produced this six hour epic set full of my favourite records of the last 25 years. I thought it’d be nice to share it and see if it conjures up any old memories for folks here. I’d love to know what you think if you give it a listen. Enjoy!

You can find it on Mixcloud in the link below….

A lot of tracks on there I remember but the originals, not the progressive house remixes.
What gear are you using for your DJing nowadays?.

Hey thanks for the reply, glad you can recall some of them, it’s been great going back through my collection pulling some of these old ones out. I use a mixture of kit, live mixes are done using a Pioneer DDJ-FLX10 running their Rekordbox software on my MacBook. I also use Ableton Live as well, which is amazing for doing super technical stuff and re-editing tracks in a way that just wouldn’t be possible live.

Cool pieces of kit, everyone loves Pioneer stuff, they really do get some good products out there. Did you ever go to the PLASA exhibition at Earls Court?

They certainly do, industry standard for good reason. As for Plasa, yes, but not for a very long time. I think last time I was there Paul Oakenfold and James Zabiela were doing demo’s. More recently but still a while ago I used to go the BPM show at the NEC, that was pretty good. I even played a set on the main arena live stage a couple of times showcasing how Ableton Live could be used to DJ live with. That was pretty cool, but I’m more content with a couple of gigs with friends and doing mixes like this one for my own pleasure these days. Age catching up with me. 😉

I think the last time I was there was around 2003. Obviously Earls Court has gone now and the NEC was too far for me to. I was on the World DMC djpages section and they had a chart for the djs on there to upload your favourite tunes. Back then I worked at an engineering firm and a bloke in the factory next door popped over and asked if I could do his son's 16th birthday. Sure! So I turned up at this pub, went upstairs to the function room and got set up. Warmed up the gear and then about an hour later the place packed out with teenagers! biglaugh Honestly, it was one of the best laughs I had ever done and everyone was just throwing shapes on the dance floor. It got to closing time and the landlady came up to say to cut the music otherwise the neighbours had grounds to complain. Of course, I had to comply but everyone there was pretty gutted the tunes had to stop. Then I had the great task of getting all my stuff back downstairs. grumpybiglaugh

I am enjoying this mix, so much so that I looked to see how to download it for listening when offline.
(As I don’t have mixcloud premium I am unable to download though frown )

Good work OP.
