(okay, the song isn't FABULOUS, but none of the others suggested are either)
Wha...? Handbags and Gladrags is one of the all-time greatest songs of all time that's just compromised with one line of nonsensical lyrics. Are the blackbirds in a cake or are they in a pie? Using 'or' would have been better. /Thread

Except it’s not. It’s a retelling of a true story and the person in question always asked for his “tonic and gin” Billy Joel has been very clear about this in many interviews. All the people in the song are based on frequent bar visitors that he encountered Tonic and gin.

I'm afraid of the dark
'Specially when I'm in a park
And there's no one else around
Ooh, I get the shivers
I don't want to see a ghost
It's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
And watch the evening news

Africa by Toto
An otherwise good song, but tainted forever by someone tacking the unwieldy 4 syllable word Serengeti onto the end of a line.
And the slightly inconvenient fact that Kilimanjaro is 200 miles from the Serengeti & can't be seen, let alone rise like Olympus over it.An otherwise good song, but tainted forever by someone tacking the unwieldy 4 syllable word Serengeti onto the end of a line.
