For me, a massively underrated guitarist.

When I was 19, I discovered this in a record shop in Shrewsbury to where I had just moved:-

Great tunes, great lyrics, and a guitar style that was different but very blues-inspired. That same year (1989) was the first Shrewsbury beer festival, and playing live on the Saturday afternoon was Mr. Tony McPhee! Attending was a no-brainer, and his live set was rich in fingerstyle Delta blues for which he was very, very good at.

Fast forward a year or so, I was enjoying a beer in The Swan in the Frankwell area of town where I lived. Across the bar was a bloke I could have sworn was T.S. Anyway, once this bloke had left, I asked the landlord if it was McPhee and he confirmed that it was. I rushed back to my place, grabbed my copy of the above album, and asked the landlord if - when Tony was next in - he could sign it for me.

34 years later, I still have that ^ album with, 'To S****, best wishes Tony T.S. McPhee' scribed on it.

RIP Tony. The music world is another six strings down.

Groundhogs were the first band I ever saw play live. Wonderful.

Must be time for some more music, so here's the mighty Cherry Red,
